"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others"

Luxuries of Kashmir is the brainchild of Aarti Chowdhary. She began her journey of restoring the dying artform of Kashmiri embroidery, with a simple venture of selling shawls. But she didn’t find fulfillment there.

Over the years, with the rise of mainstream fashion, she noticed how the traditional embroideries were being forgotten. Except for basic paisley motifs sporadically finding a place in modern clothing, Kashida style embroideries were soon becoming a thing of the past, restricted to the local artisans, without any exposure to the constantly expanding global fashion industry.

Being a design student, Aarti felt this deep inside her heart and took it on herself to turn things around. That’s when she decided to revive the heritage of Kashmiri embroidery styles and unveil the age-old crafts of Kashmir for the world, so everyone can savor the sartorial treasures of India’s paradise. And thus, in 2017, Luxuries of Kashmir was born.
